Our merinoWHITE insoles will fit in Gore-Tex lined boots or shoes, but we don't recommend this combination. The ridge on the bottom of the stabilizer cap can indent the inner liner and rub through the waterproof barrier, compromising its integrity. Although this is typically just an aesthetic problem it may cause the footwear to leak if submerged. If you feel the merinoWHITE insole is still the best option, a thin protective lining or volume reducer may be placed between the insole and the inner liner of the boot or shoe. Our Orange, Berry or Green insoles are very waterproof liner friendly. When wearing any of our insoles in footwear with a waterproof liner, it is important to inspect the boots or shoes regularly. Make sure the contact point between the insole and shoe is free of gravel, rocks or sand to avoid any premature wear.
Washing the merinoWHITE is different than washing any other Superfeet insole. Heat, agitation and detergent should NOT be used! First, clap the insole against your hand to remove loose dirt and debris. Clean with cool water and mild soap. Use your fingers to pat out dirt. Dry by pressing with a paper towel and air drying away from a heat source overnight, or until completely dry. DO NOT put your Superfeet insoles in the dryer - the result isn't pretty.
Yes! merinoWHITE can be used in any boots or slippers, rain boots, or casual footwear that may be cozy, but may not be giving your feet the support they need. merinoWHITE can also add life to older footwear with its naturally breathable, moisture wicking and renewable resource (Merino wool).
Our merinoWHITE insoles have approximately the same support as our BLUE product. The two products are built on a stabilizer cap with the same versatile shape, but the addition of the Merino wool top cover on the merinoWHITE adds a bit more volume (making it slightly thicker than the BLUE). The moderately deep heel cup cradles the calcaneal pad to optimize natural shock absorption.
Wool has inherent breathable, moisture-wicking and thermoregulating properties. The 90% Merino wool top cover of our merinoWHITE should naturally help prevent your feet from becoming sweaty. As with our REDhot and hotPINK products, if your feet are sweaty you may want to look at the type of sock you are combining with your insole.
Because of the ramped angle of a skate, we don't recommend using our products that were designed to lay flat in a shoe, like merinoWHITE. We have designed our YELLOW insole for footwear that has a raised heel compared to the forefoot and recommend you use this insole in skates. Superfeet YELLOW also has a much thinner profile than any of our other insoles so it works best in tight-fitting skates.
