We have long partnered with organizations protecting outdoor spaces and are constantly investigating ways to reduce emissions and waste. We are proud to say those years of research and hard work are paying off in a variety of ways.
Here are all the incredible strides we’ve made on our sustainability journey.
Investing in Renewable Energy
Switching all the lights at Superfeet headquarters in Washington state to efficient LEDs was no small feat, but it was an important step forward in helping reduce energy consumption. Yet even with Superfeet HQ consuming less electricity, we still wanted to make sure the energy we were using came from renewable sources. That’s why we’ve invested in Renewable Energy Certified (REC) electricity to power the entire building – including office spaces, shipping and production facilities.
Implementing Recycled Materials
One of the most exciting developments this year for Superfeet is the introduction of recycled materials in many different insoles. New products, like Active Cushion Medium Arch insoles all have 100% recycled top covers. Many more Superfeet will be made with recycled top covers soon, introduced on a rolling basis to reduce waste. Now Superfeet Moisturewick™ top covers not only help reduce odors, they also keep plastic bottles out of landfills!
Even more exciting, three of the top-selling Superfeet – All-Purpose High, Medium and Low Arch – will not only get 100% recycled top covers, but high-density cushioning foam and stabilizing arch support both made with 75% recycled materials.
Reducing Waste, Lowering Emissions
Superfeet is committed to reducing waste and lowering harmful, planet-warming emissions. We have set ambitious reduction targets aligned with scientific research aimed and minimizing the worst effects of climate change. Our emission reduction journey began in 2021 when we measured the carbon footprint of the entire business. We continue to measure our emissions every year, tracking reductions and constantly looking for ways to improve.
At Superfeet, we are persistent in our work with overseas suppliers, empowering greater energy efficiency and waste reduction. We have eliminated 90% of the plastic used to ship materials from overseas.
