Let's face it. If there’s a superpower we’ve all had to use during this pandemic era, it's adaptability. Now, more than ever before, the key to successfully navigating all that life brings your way is to adapt.
With a small nod to the ever-changing terrain of 2020-21, we're thrilled to introduce two all-new running insoles, both featuring new Adaptive Comfort Technology™, a patented design that flexes and adapts to the way your feet move.
Meet ADAPT Run and ADAPT Run Max
Easy to wear and easy to run in, these insoles represent an evolution of Superfeet technology — an alternative to the firm foundation of traditional Superfeet, with a soft, flexible feel that's made to feel like part of your running shoes.
These cushioned running insoles are available in two different styles. ADAPT Run Max features a higher arch profile and deeper heel cup and delivers what we call a max experience, where the runner feels more of the cushioned contours wrapping up and around the foot. For those who like like a more slim design, the ADAPT Run Insole has a thinner profile and lower arch.
ADAPT Cushioned Running Insoles: Design Inspiration
ADAPT Run and ADAPT Run Max feature some of our most eye-catching top cover designs to date. Superfeet Lead Industrial Designer Christian Kraski took cues from nature to develop the intriguing pattern you’ll see peeking out from inside your shoes.
"We know the foot transforms with every step, from heel strike to toe off, so I knew I wanted to incorporate a footprint inspired design to the top of this insole. I looked to nature, specifically how elements and patterns in nature change to adapt to their environments, and used that as a inspiration for these designs," says Kraski.
On the bottom of both ADAPT Run and ADAPT Run Max you’ll find an energizing heel cushion made to help disperse impact with every heel strike. When your foot hits the ground, the heel cushion helps reduce excess vibration that can lead to fatigue. A responsive forefoot pad blends cushioning and rebound to add a little extra bounce to your step.
ADAPT Cushioned Running Insoles: Why A Softer Insole?
But wait. They look great but...do they work?
The science of biomechanics has come a long way in the last forty years. As the science has evolved so too has the notion that an insole has to be stiff and firm to deliver benefits. While we know that some people prefer the more traditional, responsive feel of structured support, there are a great many others who want all the benefits of Superfeet orthotic shape but prefer the feel of flexibility and extra cushioning underfoot.
Just like no two feet are alike, every person has a vastly different interpretation of comfort. Your individual perception of what is comfortable is one of the most important factors in choosing what you should wear under your feet.
For the last six years, we have been working with researchers in the Human Performance Lab at the University of Calgary to better understand comfort, and more directly, what makes a specific insole more or less comfortable to an individual wearer. Research has show that increased insole comfort leads the body to maintain it's preferred movement pattern and is even linked to reductions in injuries.
"The newly-patented technology we call Adaptive Comfort Technology is the core innovation of the ADAPT Run and ADAPT Run Max insoles. It represents the first project born out of these learnings," says Matt Gooch, Superfeet Director of Product and Innovation.
"By delivering our signature Superfeet shape in a less structured way, these new insoles deliver a lower dose of Superfeet shape and support to those who prefer a more cushioned, flexible feel," continues Gooch. "For us, this is essential because it allows us to bring the benefits of Superfeet shape to new runners and walkers who previously hadn't found a home in our brand, helping them feel more comfortable and confident on their feet."
ADAPT Run and ADAPT Run Max: The Reviews Are In
Named one of the top 50 new products of 2021 by Outside Business Journal, ADAPT Run and ADAPT Run Max Insoles have been getting rave reviews from Superfeet ambassadors. Here's what some of them had to say about these new Superfeet.
Superfeet Ambassador and ultrarunner Shannon Mahre (@shannonmahre):
"For being an ultra runner who’s literally been wearing insoles or orthotics for the last 20 years, these particular insoles rate up there with THE BEST I’ve ever used. Thanks Superfeet for once again hitting it out of the park & at the same time continuing to make my feet, ankles and body feel oh so good even after some mega miles."
Superfeet Ambassador and trail runner Kelly Young (@kayoungin):
“The ADAPT insoles allow me to lace up and run mountains without thinking about if my feet will be happy or not. I know they’ll have fun and the support they need out there. They’re incredibly comfortable right off the bat and are my new go-to insoles!”
