Adventure with SF: Meet Marijo
We spend our days making products that help people run, jump, hike, ski, dance, climb, work, play and live life to its fullest. But when we aren't at the office, we're out in the world adventuring with Superfeet products, just like you. In this series, meet some of our employee-owners, read their stories and follow along as they #adventurewithsf in the Superfeet Sprinter Van.
Superfeet Job Title:
What that means (in Marijo's words):
Logistics extraordinaire. Setting up my co-workers for success.
Marijo's favorite Superfeet product:
Carbon Pro Hockey! These are designed for hockey skates but here's an insider secret: they're great for certain cycling shoes. These help my feet feel nothing when I'm out on a long ride, which is exactly what I love about them. They keep my feet cool, eliminate hot spots and pressure points in cycling shoes. Plus, getting up out of the saddle on a long climb feels like you're gliding on ice — easy!
My analog calendar, notebook and my favorite mechanical pencil. They're a deadly combination!
Tell us one thing on your bucket list?
Ugh, that's a tough one because I want to do EVERYTHING. We'll go in chronological order and start with a VW van trip along the coast of Portugal.
Life's an adventure. What's been your greatest adventure so far?
Three months cycling on the North and South islands in New Zealand with my hub-star.
About Marijo's Adventure
Where did you adventure to in the Superfeet Sprinter Van?
Have I mentioned yet how much I love living in Washington State? If that hasn't come up yet...well, it's now out in the open. What's not to love? One of my favorite places in this amazing state is Winthrop, WA. Located on the North Cascades Scenic Byway in Washington's Methow Valley, this place never disappoints.
Who did you adventure with?
My hub-star, Paul (aka Cutie Patootie,) and then subsequently my mother (Beverly) and father-in-law (John.) All three are a force to be reckoned with. Details on that later...
What was the best part of your adventure?
Time away doing all the things we enjoy most like cycling, eating, hiking, scheming our next adventure, and figuring out how we're going to spec-out our own Sprinter van.
Tell us something else fun/exhilirating/different/thrilling about your adventure:
My hubby and I are two extremely busy people. Getting a chunk of time to spend with family is HUGE. So, at the last minute, Paul decided to invite my in-laws to go van camping with us in Winthrop. Paul and I hopped in the Superfeet Sprinter van while my in-laws drove over in their Roadtrek camper van. You'd think that going on vacation with your partner's mom and dad would be, eh, not so fun. Just the opposite. Especially when your father-in-law is one of the most inspiring people you know. At the young age of 12 - 16, Paul's father (who's Dutch) was held in a Japanese run internment camp during WWII in Indonesia. Despite this four-year horrifying experience, John is one of the happiest people I know. He's traveled the world, climbed mountainous peaks, cycle-toured countries that I can't even pronounce and still starts happy hour everyday at 4 PM sharp. I figure if this man can be happy, I have no justification as to why I can't be either. I've never seen the man lose his cool or get mad - - NEVER. I use his life as a frame of reference for mine. During this trip I got to watch my 88 year old father-in-law ride his bike with his son. The man attacks life like he attacks road biking - - with passion and a smile. We all can learn a lot from this man.
